Weekly Greeting - June 9th, 2023
As we all know we are in the process of hiring new staff members. It is important that anyone we hire have certain skills and abilities. However, it is even more important that those who become part of the staff be committed to living out God’s will as a follower of Jesus.
Our SPRC committee is working hard to find the right people to serve our congregation. We are also praying.
In biblical times, the search for leaders was always based first and foremost in the pursuit of God’s will. From Moses to Gideon to King David in the Old Testament to Matthias and Stephen in the New Testament, choosing faithful leaders was all about finding the person God was preparing to lead the people.
It is important that we carefully examine every candidate interested in serving with us here at Bethlehem. It is even more important that we pray and listen for the voice of the only One with wisdom for every decision.
In the Book of James the Bible says, “you have not because you ask not.”
(James 4:2)
Please join us in asking God to lead the right staff members to us and for our discernment in discovering God’s will in this important task before us.
This Sunday is the Third Sunday after Pentecost. Our text is Matthew 9:9-13. The passage describes the call of Matthew and his immediate response to Jesus’ call. Jesus said, “follow me,” more often than he said, “believe in me.” Do you remember when you first began to follow Jesus? Is following Jesus a high priority for you today?
Come join us for worship as we hear Jesus calling us anew. It could be the beginning of a truly great adventure!
