Weekly Greeting - May 11th
God has a history of calling the least likely of persons for servant-leadership.
Is it possible that it’s easier for God to work with those who know they need God than with those who think they don’t?
Noah had never built a boat.
Joseph was a daddy’s boy, a dreamer, a slave, and a prisoner.
Jacob was a conniver.
David had a man killed so he could marry the man’s wife whom he had gotten pregnant
Moses was a tongue tied murderer.
Jeremiah wished he’d died at birth.
Elijah got depressed (as did Jeremiah apparently).
Mary was an unmarried, pregnant, peasant girl.
Peter was overconfident.
James and John sought power.
Paul persecuted Christians.
The Bible is full of real people God has used in powerful ways. If you are tempted to question whether or not God is able to use you, just think of the people listed above. It has been said that God doesn’t call the qualified, but qualifies the called. Let’s offer ourselves to God who is able to use us all to do great things!
Peace and blessings,
Craig
This Sunday is the second week in our “Abide” worship series. It is also Mother’s Day. Our text will be from Genesis 16 which documents an important event in the life of Hagar and her son, Ishmael. After being treated bitterly and running away from Abram and Sarah, Hagar discovers God is always with her. When a messenger from God meets her at a spring on her way to Shur, she gives God a new name. What would your name for God be? Hagar’s name for God is “El Roi,” which means, “God sees me.”
Join us for worship as we celebrate the God who sees us and is always with us.
