Weekly Greeting - August 18th, 2023
Dear Bethlehem Family,
I once heard about a pastor who went to visit a church member in San Jose, California. He drove north on Highway 280, assuming it would become 680 North, since he had heard that Highway 280 becomes 680.
The appointed time for his visit was getting closer, but the pastor could not see any sign for Highway 680. When he called the church member he was planning to visit, he found out that he should have taken Highway 280 South, which would have eventually become 680 North. The longer and faster he drove, the farther he was from his intended destination.
It has been said, “Your direction is more important than your speed.” If you are traveling in the wrong direction, the faster you go will just take you further from where you want to go.
Of course, slowing down isn’t really going to help either. If you travel slower, you still are going to be moving away from where you want to go.
Your direction really is more important than your speed. If we are traveling in the wrong direction, the best thing we can do is turn around and head the other way.
One of the most important questions we can ask ourselves is “Am I traveling in the right direction?”
One of my most favorite passages from the bible is Proverbs 3:5-6:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.”
The best way to run in the right direction is to trust in God and follow our heart. God has promised to direct our path and keep us moving in the right direction. Thanks be to God!
Blessings,
Craig
