Backpack Blessing Sunday
Your kids are encouraged to bring their backpacks this Sunday to either worship service. We will bless and pray for them as they head into a new school year.
Backpack Thank You!
Thank you to everyone who helped with Kathy’s Backpacks this year with your donations as well as hands on help. Starting with Kim Acree who contacts every school, Dave Speer for handling the shopping, Target Cool Springs for giving us such a great discount on the supplies, the youth for bundling pencils, the children for sorting highlighters, the Thursday set-up crew, everyone who packed on Sunday and ending with those that delivered the backpacks this week! (WHEW!) We helped 400 students start the year off a little better prepared. I love this project and again am so thankful for all of your help!
Blood Drive August 11 Has Been Cancelled
The blood drive scheduled for Friday, August 11 has been cancelled due to Red Cross Staffing Shortages. There are no other drives scheduled at Bethlehem at this time. If you wish to give blood, please check the Red Cross website (redcrossblood.org) for a drive in the Franklin/Brentwood area.
Monthly Mission – August 13
Every second Sunday of the month we collect food items to be donated to those less fortunate. The next collection will be Sunday, August 13 when we will collect peanut butter and jelly. Please plan to bring your peanut butter and jelly to the altar during the singing of the first hymn/song during the worship service.
Flowers Needed for August 20 & 27
Flowers are needed for the August 20 & 27 worship services. Arrangements are $50.00 each and can be taken home after the end of the 10:45 worship service. Flowers can also be reserved using the Sign-Up Genius link from the church website (www.bethlehemumc.com) and select the Sunday/Sundays you want or you may contact Dana Smyth (615-794-6721 or dsmyth@bethlehemumc.com).
Operation Christmas Child
As you're buying school supplies, pick up a few extra for kids in need and bring them with you. We're collecting for Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts from now until the middle of November.
Updated Safety & Security Measures
In an effort to provide safety for the church staff, preschool and Chesterton Academy of the Incarnation, all exterior doors will be locked during the week. If you arrive at church and the door by the Sanctuary is locked, please ring the doorbell or call the church (615-794-6721) for assistance.
