Weekly Greeting - November 22, 2024

Greetings friends,

A pastor once asked an old farmer, decked out in bib overalls, to say grace for the morning breakfast. “Lord, I hate buttermilk”, the farmer began.  The visiting pastor opened one eye to glance at the farmer, wondering where this was going.

The farmer loudly proclaimed, “Lord, I hate lard.”  Now the pastor was really concerned.  Without missing a beat, the farmer continued, “And Lord, you know I don’t care much for raw white flour.”  The pastor once again opened one eye to glance around the room and saw that he was not the only one beginning to feel uncomfortable.

Then the farmer added, “But, Lord, when you mix them all together and bake them, I do love warm fresh biscuits.  So Lord, when things come up that we don’t like, when life gets hard, when we don’t understand what you’re saying to us, help us to just relax until you are done mixing.  It will probably be even better than the biscuits.  Amen.”

Pretty good prayer and a great reminder that God sees things that we don’t see and that some things that happen that are less than enjoyable might result in something really good taking place.  As the prophet tells us in the Book of Isaiah:

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”  Isaiah 55:8-9

Blessings,

Craig __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
