Weekly Greeting - July 19, 2024

Dear Bethlehem,

I recently found some humorous signs advertising various businesses:

1.   At an Optometrist’s office: If you don’t see what you’re looking for, you’ve come to the right place.

2.   In a Podiatrist’s office: “Time wounds all heels.” –doesn’t it though?

3.   On a Plastic Surgeon’s Office door: “Hello, can we pick your nose?”

4.   At a Towing company: “We don’t charge an arm and a leg. We want your tows.”

5.   On an Electrician’s truck: “let us remove your shorts.”

6.   In a Non-smoking area: “If we see smoke, we will assume you are on fire and put you out.”

7.   On a Septic Tank Truck sign: “We’re #1 in the #2 business.”

8.   Outside a Muffler shop: “No appointment necessary. We hear you coming.”

9.   At a Car Dealership: “The best way to get back on your feet—miss a car payment.”

10.               On a Plumber’s Shop: “We repair what your husband fixed.” Ouch!

Just suppose God’s office had a sign, what do you think it might say? Maybe it would say, “Can’t fix what isn’t broken.”

So often in our society and too often even in the church, we think being broken, having struggles and needing help is a terrible thing.  Yet, unless we recognize our need for God, we can’t experience all that God has for us. Think of all the Psalms in which the writer is calling out for God’s help.  In our worship series this Sunday, we will be exploring Psalm 46 as we continue our concert series and focus on God’s faithfulness and love.  Jessi Alexander will be singing the song, “The Climb” she wrote recorded by Miley Cyrus.  Come ready to discover and celebrate just some of the ways God promises to help us experience life in all its fullness, even when we have “mountains to climb and uphill battles” to face.  God is good, all the time.  And all the time, God is good!

God bless!

Craig
