Weekly Greeting - May 31, 2024
Dear Bethlehem,
Vacation Bible School is just around the corner! A lot of things are different from my experience of Vacation Bible School at my aunt’s church in Kirkwood, Missouri in the mid-1960’s. In those days, the Bible stories were told with felt boards and popcorn crafts. These days, we have exciting videos and utilize twenty-first century teaching methods and approaches. I definitely don’t remember any of the fun dances that helps make our Vacation Bible School at Bethlehem so much fun.
Of course, there are a lot of things in Vacation Bible School that have not changed down through the years. It is still about encountering stories from the Bible and learning how the Bible applies to our lives. It is still about meeting new children and having a good time with friends and experiencing new and fun activities. Vacation Bible School still gives us an opportunity to connect with children and families who do not regularly attend church and help them nurture their faith.
Vacation Bible School also benefits those of us who participate, by helping our young people and others in the church learn to teach and lead it. Please pray for our upcoming Vacation Bible School program and thank April Jackson and her many volunteers for all their hard work and dedication. Vacation Bible School has come a long way, but it is still an awesome opportunity for children and those who teach them to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Thank you for helping make Vacation Bible School a huge part of our ministry at Bethlehem!
God bless!
Craig

This week we begin our new worship series, “On Purpose.” Have you ever asked yourself this question: Why am I here? Trying to discover the purpose of our lives can lead to a lot of other questions: Who am I? Do I have a “calling?” What am I supposed to do with my life?
The world around us is all too ready to give us answers to those questions; but in our worship series we will be taking a look at what God’s word says.
This Sunday we will be listening in on a conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus from John 3:1-8. For Jesus our identity is found in our relationship with God. Join us for worship this Sunday as we celebrate our identity as God’s children and family!
