Weekly Greeting - October 11, 2024

Greetings friends,

Everybody loves animals right?  (Well just about everybody)

This Saturday, October 12, here at Bethlehem we are observing a Blessing of the Animals service at 10:00 a.m.  Hillsboro United Methodist Church will be joining us.

Dr. Kathy Kunkel will be assisting with the service and sharing her story of being called to be a veterinarian at a very young age.  Rev. Betty Proctor from Hillsboro United Methodist Church will also be taking part in the service.  Harry Robinson will be leading us in singing.

Many congregations of various denominations observe a Blessing of the Animals on or around the Feast of St Francis.  Some congregations choose to observe it on or near Earth Day.

A Blessing of the Animals service is not only an opportunity to celebrate all the pets whose caretakers are members of a congregation, but offers a great opportunity to invite those in the community to visit the church in a relaxed setting.

For those whose pets may not mix well with others, you can bring a photo of your pet to be blessed.  Children might even bring a stuffed animal for a blessing.  Think of someone you could invite to come to church on Saturday morning to worship God and give God thanks for our animal friends.

Blessings,

Craig

This Sunday we will be celebrating God’s plan to bless our lives to invite us to be a part of all that God is doing.  Our text is from the Book of Revelation 3:7-8.

Through the grace of Jesus Christ, God has opened the door for us all to join with God and one another on a great adventure.  I look forward to worshipping and serving with you!
