Weekly Greeting - August 16, 2024
Greetings friends,
I once heard about a young couple who moved into a new house. The next morning while they were eating breakfast, the young woman saw her neighbor hanging the washing outside.
“That laundry is not very clean; she doesn’t know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs some better detergent.”
Her husband looked on, remaining silent. Every time her neighbor hung her washing out to dry, the young woman made the same comments. A month later, the young woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband, “Look, she’s finally learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this?”
The husband replied, “I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows.”
Jesus once said, “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness.
The young woman who was watching her neighbor hang her laundry did not realize her own dirty windows were preventing her from seeing that her neighbor’s clothes were actually clean.
What we see when we look at others has as much to do with ourselves as it does with them. Before we judge someone it is important for us to examine our own hearts. We might discover we are the ones who need to change.
We might also discover that as we look for things that are good, we will be less likely to find fault with others.
As Jesus said, “the eye really is the lamp of the body.”
Blessings,
Craig

We continue our Created for Connection worship series this week. The text will be Hebrews 10:19-25. Our theme will focus on the importance of the connection of community. We are called as believers to prioritize time for worship and to encourage each other in the faith. Make plans to join us for a great time of worship. We really do need each other!
